Carillon, The German Church

The German Church had 24 bells that had become corroded by time. On the initiative of the Dutch ambassador, Antoine van Dongen, Sophie Ekman got involved that these bells would be taken down, sent to Holland and another 12 bells were cast. A complicated building project was made possible thanks to the Torsten and Ragnar Söderberg Foundations. Largest bell bears Queen Silvia's name and the second largest, the Torsten and Ragnar Söderberg Foundations and a smaller bell bears School chief Sophie Ekman's name.
36 bells now rings every day from Stockholm's tallest church top.
